The Official #Hustler4life Mix Tape + Trivia!
What's happening? How is it September already?! I go through this every month. I used to have a real blog way back when people blogged about things, and every month when more disciplined bloggers posted shit like: Hello, September! (in gorgeous bloggy fonts), I'd be all like WTF?! How does this keep happening? Time travel amazes me.
Anyway, it's not just September--it's MID September. So BIG WTF?!
What's new? Let's see. So the part-time gig that I took on to supplement the full-time gig earlier this year (and wrote about here) has now taken over. What I mean is the part-time gig is now the full-time gig. Which means I am a full-time freelancer. Scary as fuck. Also pretty cool. Also, I have a new mix tape.
Here's an exclusive look into my new mix tape (still in the works bc these things take time, and time is a real phenomenon that continues to escape me). I've been listening to Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson (do you listen to Neil? You should. He's amazing.) and here's an episode where he explains time. The bottom line is time is super weird. So the mix tape is organized by year, which makes me think of John Cusack's record collection in High Fidelity. Man, that was a good movie...
How does John Cusack organize his record collection in High Fidelity?
“I can tell you how I got from Deep Purple to Howling Wolf in just 25 moves. And if I want to find the song ‘Landslide’ by Fleetwood Mac, I have to remember that I bought it for someone in the fall of 1983 pile, but didn’t give it to them for personal reasons...”
I know, I know, that was too easy! Harder trivia next time. I promise. Maybe. (If I remember.)
I've always wanted to do that. You know, organize my entire record collection/mix tape collection/CD collection/book collection (life!) autobiographically like John Cusack. Which is not to say chronologically. That's something else entirely. Anyway, it's just so. much. work.
Anyway, anyway...here's my new MIX TAPE (aka my post Labor Day playlist):
A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles (1964)
Three Little Birds - Bob Marley (1977)
48 Hours - The Clash (1977)
9 to 5 – Dolly Parton (1980)
Working for the Weekend - Loverboy (1981) (Whatever. It's CATCHY!!)
She Works Hard for the Money - Donna Summer (1983)
Working on the Highway - Bruce Springsteen (1984)
Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi (1986)
Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes (2003)
Everyday I'm Hustlin' - Rick Ross (2006)
Pretty sweet, huh?
The hustle is real, friends. I read a great article recently in the Money Issue of Bitch Magazine about why more and more women are freelancing: "Between a Boss and a Hard Place" by Sarah Grey. Totally worth the read!! The short answer is bc bosses are aholes.
KIDDING! Not all bosses are aholes, I'm sure. Go read the article. Seriously, it's VERY GOOD.
What's new with you? It's almost Christmas. 2017, practically. I should just start practicing now. Why not? Merry Christmas and happy New Year, everyone! Because it'll be here before we know it. Like, blink: Hello, December! Fucking time.
PS. Wanna buy a car? I have one. I'm selling it. It's black. Super cute. Email me. But only if you're SURE you want it. Otherwise don't bother. Unless you just want to say hi. That's fine then. You can email me if you just want to say hi.
